FIVE NEW POLICE OFFICERS FOR THE CLARENCE & RICHMOND VALLEYS

Five new probationary constables are joining frontline policing across the Clarence and Richmond valleys, with three new officers heading to Grafton and two to Casino, State Nationals MP for Clarence Richie Williamson has welcomed.

The new officers are among 15 probationary constables being deployed across the Coffs/Clarence (7) and Richmond (8) Police Districts following last Friday's attestation of the latest NSW Police Force recruit class. 

Mr Williamson said the arrival of the five new officers was welcome news for communities across the Clarence and Richmond valleys, where police play a critical role in keeping families, businesses and communities safe.

“Becoming a police officer is a significant commitment and I congratulate these five new probationary constables on choosing a career dedicated to serving their communities,” Mr Williamson said.

“Three of these new officers will be stationed in Grafton, strengthening the police presence in the Clarence Valley, while two will be based in Casino, providing an important boost to frontline policing in the Richmond Valley.

“These officers are joining communities where police are highly valued and where the work they do every day can make an enormous difference.

“Policing is not an easy job. These officers will be called upon to deal with people on some of the most difficult days of their lives, often in challenging and unpredictable circumstances.

“I want to congratulate each of them on reaching this important milestone and thank them for choosing to serve the people of the Clarence and Richmond valleys.

“I also acknowledge the families, friends, mentors and fellow officers who have supported them throughout their training and helped them reach this point.

“Having more police on the ground is important to community safety, but so too is ensuring our existing officers have the resources, support and conditions they need to do their jobs effectively.

“I look forward to seeing these new officers become part of our local police family and wish them every success as they commence their 12 months of on-the-job training.”
