FUNDING BOOST HELPS MACLEAN SHOW SOCIETY MAINTAIN GROUNDS

The workload of Maclean Show Society volunteers in maintaining the picturesque Maclean Showground is about to get a little lighter thanks to their success in securing a $17,250 grant under the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership program to purchase a new 42-inch zero-turn mower, Clarence Nationals MP Richie Williamson has announced.

The new mower will help the hardworking volunteers keep the Maclean Showground in top condition, with mowing required up to twice a week during the summer months. The well-maintained grounds are used by a wide range of community groups and visitors throughout the year, including RV campers who regularly stay at the site.

Mr Williamson said the funding recognises the significant community role the showground plays in Maclean and the tireless efforts of the volunteer committee that maintains it.

“The Maclean Showground is a vital community hub — from local events to camping and recreation — and it’s kept running by volunteers who dedicate their time and effort year-round,” Mr Williamson said.

“This funding will make it easier for the Show Society to stay on top of maintenance and keep the grounds safe and welcoming for everyone.”

Maclean Show Society President Robbie Sutherland said the funding will make a real difference.

“It’s great to have a second mower to back up the work we did last year. To have a new one will mean a hell of a lot to help us keep on top of the maintenance at the showground,” Mr Sutherland said.

“We really appreciate the support from Richie and the NSW Government.”

Mr Williamson congratulated the Maclean Show Society on its successful application and thanked the volunteers for their ongoing commitment to the community.
