Clarence Nationals MP Richie Williamson was delighted to catch up with three of the four Clarence Valley Conservatorium students selected to represent regional NSW on the international stage as part of the 2025 Europe Tour with the Regional Youth Orchestra NSW (RYO).
Tessa Darby, Toby Smidt and Oscar Woods visited Parliament on Wednesday morningwhile in Sydney for final rehearsals. Fellow local student Casey Palmer has already travelled to Europe ahead of the group. The students were joined by the dedicated Clarence Valley Conservatorium Director, Adam Wills, who will accompany them on the tour.
“These talented young musicians are not only showcasing their individual skill and commitment — they’re proudly carrying the spirit of the Clarence Valley community with them,” Mr Williamson said.
“I’m thrilled to see regional students receiving the opportunities they deserve and taking their place on the world stage.”
The four students are part of a 60-strong orchestra made up of musicians aged 13–22 from regional towns across NSW. The ensemble will perform in renowned venues across Austria and Germany in July, including the Musikverein in Vienna and St Matthew’s Church in Berlin.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that highlights the importance of investing in regional arts education,” Mr Williamson said.
The Europe Tour will feature concerts, workshops, and cultural exchanges with international youth ensembles and institutions, giving students global exposure and artistic development.
Mr Williamson congratulated the students, their families, and Clarence Valley Conservatorium for their dedication, and extended his best wishes for the tour.
The orchestra will present a Farewell Concert at Sydney Conservatorium of Music on Friday, 28 June at 5:00pm before flying out on Sunday.
